College is competition. To seize the career you envision you'll have to beat out thousands of people just like you. I'm not trying to scare you. This is the truth. When I was accepted into medical school there were over 8,000 applications for 120 slots. This being said, why Lambdas? 2 reasons.
1) In order to be successful you must surround yourself with people who share that vision.
One of the keys of success is finding out how to get there. For me, within Lambdas I found guys who had been through the pre-med process. They told me the things I needed to accomplish in order to assemble a good application and they inspired me by the achievements they had already made.
2) Once you know what to do, you're going to need all the help you can get.
I am proud to call the guys within Columbia University Lambda Phi Epsilon my brothers, my friends. Whenever, wherever, if I needed help these guys were there. Let me drop some empirical evidence on you. In 2000 I wanted to run a bone marrow registration drive at Columbia, the first ever. All the clubs said they wanted to help but when it came time for late-night flyering and soliciting people on college walk the only people around me were my brothers.
Another thing, Lambda doesn't stop with graduation. The charters frequently came back to school to visit and check up on us. I continue this tradition. I do this because I genuinely care about my brothers, present and future. |

Let's face it, fraternity life is not at the top of most people's lists when they arrive at Columbia. That distinction goes to either academics or career goals. In fact, I had no intention of joining a fraternity my freshmen year. I knew that being accepted into Columbia was the easy part; actually succeeding among the brightest people from all over the world would be a whole different story. That being said, I thought joining a fraternity would really hurt me academically. I was wrong. Having a group of friends who care enough to help you in all aspects of life without being asked is a luxury that few people can say they've experienced. |

Without a doubt, my decision to enter into the fraternity was the single most important and most rewarding decision of my college life. It introduced me to a great group of friends that I'm still close to after college, pushed me to become a stronger individual, and built the foundations in me to become a leader - a quality I've found to be very important after college in the "real world." Don't let this once in a lifetime opportunity pass you by... You'll be better for it. |

The strength of a group is much greater than the sum of its parts, and nowhere is that better demonstrated than in the brotherhood of Columbia University Lambda Phi Epsilon. Each brother brings their own set of experiences, interests, and skills to the table. In return they are personally enriched by the diversity within them, the life lessons learned, the activities experienced, the goals accomplished, and the eternal bonds of brotherhood that are forged from going through all of it together. |

Envision this: You have a core group of people that you are extremely comfortable with to talk about anything. These are people you consider your closest friends and have always been there to support your personal, academic, and career needs. You relish the opportunity to work with them on a number of projects in pursuit of benefiting the community and improving the world around. If you can envision this, then you need to look no further to make this dream into a reality. In pursuit of the good life, joining Lambda Phi Epsilon at Columbia University will bring you one step closer to that reality. |
